Crochet Striped Hipster Slouchy Beanie

I found this free pattern from Whistle and Ivy and had to make one. I love Bethany's combo colors so I used similar colors. I'm so excited about it. I finished it and it matches my outfit!

Crochet Spiral Hat

I followed this tutorial on YouTube to start and made it the way I want. If you are a visual, you should out the video tutorial and follow her. I will provide the pattern I used to alter my hats.

I like big hooks. I think mostly because anything smaller takes too long to make! Maybe that's why I never really got into amigurumi. lol

Anyway, the pattern I followed uses a 3.5mm hook. I used a 6mm hook. See? :)

Yarn: Lion Brand Vanna's Choice in Mustard and Taupe
6mm hook
Scissors
Yarn Needle

Stitches:

ch - chain
sl st - slip stitch
sc - single crochet
dc - double crochet
fpdc - front post double crochet

This hat is made in rounds. The hat measures 8.5" from top to bottom and 19.5" circumferences (my head is small)

Starting with the magic circle, ch 3 (ch 3 does not count as a dc here and throughout pattern)

Round 1: 15 dc into magic ring, sl st to the top of the first dc

Round 2: ch 3, fpdc into each of the 15 dc, sl to the top of the first fpdc

Round 3: ch 3, *fpdc into the next post (previous fpdc), dc into the space between the post and the next fpdc, Repeat from * all the way around, sl st to top of fpdc

Round 4-5: ch 3, *fpdc into the next post, 2 dc into the space between the post and the next dc,

Repeat from * all the way around, sl st to top of fpdc

Note: for the child size hat, I continued these rounds until desired size hat. I did not move forward with the 3 dc in the next round.

Round 6-16: ch 3, *fpdc into the next post, *3 dc into the space between the post and the next dc,

Repeat from * all the way around, sl st to top of fpdc

Do less rounds if you need it shorter and more if you need it longer. The sc I made is about 1.25 inches

BRIM: Ch 1, add stitch marker, single crochet all the way around in a continuous round until you get desired width of brim. Mine was 1.25 inches. slip st in the end, tie off and weave in all ends.

I got tired of my last watermark already... Trying out a new one!

Crochet Anna Slouchy Beanie

This hat is named after Anna who won this hat in an Instagram giveaway. :)

I was yarn shopping (too often, I think!) and saw this colorful yarn by Red Heart in the color Monet. I'm not a fan of multicolored yarn but I thought "what the heck"

Since Spring is officially in 4 days, something spring and light would be good for this yarn. I didn't have a pattern in mind so I just made one up.

Yarn: Red Heart Monet
Hook: 5.5mm for brim and 6.00mm for hat
Scissors
Tape Measure
Yarn Needle

ch - chain
sc - single crochet
hdc - half double crochet
dc - double crochet
sl st - slip stitch

BRIM:

Starting with the 5.5mm hook

ch 13 (ch less for thinner brim. Ch more for wider brim)
Row 1: 1 hdc into the 2nd 3rd ch from the hook & 1 hdc into the remaining stitches, ch 2
Row 2: hdc into the back loop ONLY all the way across, ch 2
Row 3... Repeat row 2 until desired length. Mine was about 17.5 inches long (for child size)
Join the ends by slip stitching through both ends (or cut yarn and sew together with yarn needle)

Turn inside out so seam is less visible

HAT:

Switch to the 6mm hook (optional)

Round 1: Ch 1, sc all the way around. It's hard to see where to put the hook through. Make sure you end up with even number of stitches. sl st to the beginning of the ch 1.

Round 2: Ch 3 (this counts as a double crochet), 1 dc into the same stitch, *skip a stitch, and 2 dc into the next stitch. Repeat from * all the way around. sl st into the top of the beginning chain 3

The hook is inserted in the space below where you'll put the dc after chaining 3

The hook is inserted into the space where you'll do your next 2 dc

Round 3: Ch 3, 1 dc into the same space below (not stitch). This space is the space between the 2 sets of dc where the skipped stitch is. *2 dc into the next space where the skipped stitch is from previous round. Repeat from * all the way around. sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3

Round 4-13: Repeat rounds 3 until desired height. Mine was about 10" tall.

Cut yarn and weave into each stitch all the way around and cinch it up. Tie knots and weave in ends.

Another version of the same hat in adult size. The hat was 11'' tall when I stopped and the brim is about 22"

Crochet Cluster Beanie with Ear flaps and Pom Pom

I just made a Crochet Cluster Beanie which turned out too small so I made another following the same pattern but making it bigger (more increases). This time I didn't add the brim portion of it and I added ear flaps instead. My baby sister (who is 16 years younger) wanted a crochet hat with ear flaps and pom poms.

The hat measures 22" around and 7.5" from top to bottom (not including flaps)

I was pretty happy with how it turned out but I would make it differently next time. This was just a practice pattern. Hopefully I nail it the next time. Sorry about the crappy first videos I made.

Yarn: Red Heart in the color Claret

Crochet Cluster Beanie

I followed (sorta) the tutorial from Mango Tree Crafts for an adult size but it still turned out smaller than an adult. I mainly just wanted to make the "cluster" since there's many ways to make cluster stitches and I really like this one. I've been wondering if my stitches are tighter than most since my hats always end up smaller!

Making the first one always helps you gauge how many more increases or size hook you'll need to use to make it fit. I actually used a larger hook and still got a smaller hat!

Crochet Lulu Pom Pom Scarf

Let's face it. Kids things are cute. They're miniature and the kiddos look good modeling anything! Anyone who knows me knows ...
